Natural dairy products: seeking a link between consumers and nature

Using large grazers to keep the grass short is essential in many nature conservation areas in order to achieve the desired nature objectives. Could these grazers include dairy cattle? If so, this would give nature management a new economic carrier: a carrier which would also connect nature, dairy farming and citizens/consumers to one another in a new way.

A number of innovative dairy farmers envisage opportunities for integrating nature management and commercial dairy farming and have taken up the challenge. To attain this purpose, they have set up the Natuurzuivel (Natural Dairy Products) project in cooperation with Courage .

The Natuurzuivel project group consulted the my eyes Group. my eyes establishes networks where enthusiastic people (citizens and consumers), companies, NGOs, government sectors and science can meet one another, forge ties and exchange know-how, products and services based on transparency. my eyes is developing a new marketing and communications concept for Natuurzuivel.

Close cooperation with nature conservation organisations is one of the conditions for devising the Natuurzuivel innovative concept. Another important factor is coordinating the concept properly with consumers’ wishes and social interests: this is the only possible way in which to develop a feasible (communications) strategy.

Courage is the name of a foundation which stimulates and supports innovation in the Dutch dairy farming sector. Courage was initiated by the Dutch Confederation of Agriculture and Horticulture and the Dutch Dairy Organisation and is allied to InnovatieNetwerk.
